Erroneous View Of Intercessory Prayer In Catholicism

People who are members of false religions have a strong desire to believe the lies of their religious leaders and religious organizations, and Catholics are no exception, including with respect to intercessory prayer. First of all, what is the primary purpose of intercessory prayer? Is it for God’s benefit? No. God has need of NOTHING. It is for the purpose, benefit and blessing of God’s people, God’s true children. And that purpose is summed up right here in the book of Galatians:
 
“Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2
 
Catholics have been lied to by their church – about what intercessory prayer is – in order to legitimize an unbiblical Catholic practice, the practice of praying to people they can’t see and can’t hear. That includes Mary and other Catholic saints who have died and are unable to hold normal conversations with us back here on earth. A Catholic may THINK their prayers are being heard but they have no way of knowing for sure and according to the Bible, the only person we should be praying TO is God, including the Lord Jesus Christ whom the Bible tells us is our ONE mediator with God the Father:
 
“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;”
 
Here in Philippians chapter 4, we see that it is GOD (not Mary, not Catholic saints) to whom we are to make known our needs:
 
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” Philippians 4:6
 
By praying to non-divine beings who have died, we are assigning DIVINE attributes to them, attributes such as omnipresence… the ability to be everywhere at once. We are in effect, REPLACING GOD with these lower beings, and that is a sin. It is a sin to ROB GOD of His rightful role as mediator in prayer. God is never too busy to hear and act upon our prayers. He doesn’t need help from ANYONE anywhere. He may at times use angelic messengers to send messages to those here on earth, but God is fully capable of acting as our one and only mediator in prayer.
 
Intercessory prayer has nothing to do with praying TO people who died. It has to do with asking others to pray for you who are ON THIS SIDE OF ETERNITY, and who you verbally interact with – who YOU can hear when they reply to you in a conversation – and who can rebuke you when you ask selfish, carnal prayer requests and who can comfort you in a crisis and who can assist with meeting your needs. If you wish to please the Church of Rome while sinning against God, well then, keep praying to Rome’s glorified version of Mary – and their man-made saints – who probably are in hell right now if they died trusting in the false works-righteousness plan of salvation of the Catholic Church.— RM Kane
