“Ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil” [Genesis 3:5]

What does man always want?… to be like God, being the captain of his own ship and in subjection to no one, especially God.  Hence the tremendous popularity of the false free-will gospel.  It lets the rebel, the sinner, accept God any time he so chooses.  It puts the Creator at the mercy of the creation.  It puts man in the driver’s seat.  It takes the Sovereign God of the Bible, the ruler of the universe, and lowers Him to just an item on a smorgasbord table for a spiritually dead sinner to do with as he pleases, accept or reject, serve or trample over. And yet the REAL God has given fallen mankind no such power, or authority or perogative.  The REAL King and Lord of all is not at the beck and call of his earthly enemies.  They are at His mercy.  He blinds whom He pleases and gives sight to whom He pleases.  He laughs at those who think they are independent agents having no one to give an account to.

“Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
