“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” – Isaiah 5:20

Dear Catholic reader: Please view this information as an eye-opening experience regarding false Catholic dogma and not as a personal attack. Please don’t get mad at the author of this article who is here to help you find spiritual truth. And don’t make the mistake that so many sinners in Hell have made, which is that you already possess the truth on these issues.

This list was compiled by a former Roman Catholic after spending hundreds of hours online with Catholic Church defenders, who refused to believe that their Church could be misleading them or deceiving them. In order to keep this list a manageable size, I am not going to provide detailed scriptural backing for the rebuttals listed below. However, that information is available all over the Internet for those who care about truth. Also, you will have a hard time finding fault with my rebuttals, in Scripture. You are welcome to share your thoughts on this article with its author (RM Kane), by contacting him here via E-MAIL.

FALSE CATHOLIC CLAIM #1: Peter was the first pope – No. Actually Peter was never a pope. Catholic popes didn’t exist yet. Only regional bishops, including the bishop of Rome.

FALSE CATHOLIC CLAIM #2: Mary was a perpetual virgin – No. Actually Mary had children with Joseph.

FALSE CATHOLIC CLAIM #3: Mary was born without sin – No. Only Jesus was born without sin.

FALSE CATHOLIC CLAIM #4: Mary is the ark of the new covenant. – No. Jesus is the ark of the new covenant. By His life on earth He fulfilled the Law of God perfectly.

FALSE CATHOLIC CLAIM #5: Mary was assumed bodily into heaven. – No. Mary’s body ended up in a grave like everyone else.

FALSE CATHOLIC CLAIM #6: The Catholic Church is the one true Church. – No. The one true Church is a spiritual entity consisting of all those people world-wide who are trusting their salvation to the merits of Jesus alone.

FALSE CATHOLIC CLAIM #7: There were no other Christians except Catholics and Orthodox until the Protestant Reformation in the 1500s. – No. there was always a true remnant Church starting with the local churches of the New Testament.

FALSE CATHOLIC CLAIM #8: Luther was an evil rebellious heretic. – No. Luther was honoring God and doing the will of God by exposing corruption and false teachings in the Catholic Church. That’s why the corrupt Catholic leadership hated him so much and why they slandered his name continually for hundreds of years.

FALSE CATHOLIC CLAIM #9: Purgatory is a real place Catholics go to after death. – No. Purgatory was invented by the Catholic Church, mainly to rob Catholics of money for paid prayers and masses for the dead.

FALSE CATHOLIC CLAIM #10: Joseph was celibate his entire life. – No. Joseph fathered several children with Mary.

FALSE CATHOLIC CLAIM #11: Catholics popes are infallible in matters of faith and morals. – No. Catholic popes don’t even preach the truth about salvation by the grace of God alone.

FALSE CATHOLIC CLAIM #12: It is OK to call popes “holy father”. – No. It is a sin to call anyone but God, holy father. Holy father is a TITLE of RANK and AUTHORITY that belongs to GOD ALONE.

FALSE CATHOLIC CLAIM #13: Catholic priests have power from God to forgive sins. No. Only God can forgive sins. The Catholic Church has seriously mis-applied John 20:23 to all their priests, when it was was only directed to the apostles.

FALSE CATHOLIC CLAIM #14: The office of “priest” for offering the sacrifice of the mass is legitimate. – No. the sacrificial priesthood was abolished at the cross with the death of Christ, the Lamb of God.

FALSE CATHOLIC CLAIM #15: The Eucharist is the literal body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ. – No. Jesus is ruling and reigning from heaven through the Holy Spirit on earth. He doesn’t clone Himself into billions of wafers at every Catholic mass world-wide.

FALSE CATHOLIC CLAIM #16: The sacrifice of the mass with its re-presenting of Christ in the Eucharist is the proper form of communion. – No. A biblical communion ceremony is meant to be a memorial service honoring Christ’s death, burial and resurrection, not a bizarre literal – yet invisible – repeat performance of Christ’s death Calvary.

FALSE CATHOLIC CLAIM #17: To eat a Eucharist is to “receive Christ”. – No. Jesus Christ is received at the point of salvation, the point of being “born again” (regenerated) by the Holy Spirit.

FALSE CATHOLIC CLAIM #18: A Catholic is born-again and receives the Holy Spirit at their water baptism ceremony. – No. No one is born-again by an action of a Catholic priest. Sinners are only born-again by a supernatural act of God when they hear the Gospel preached (including the law of God showing them they are law-breakers). Then, in God’s time, they are convicted of their sin by the Holy Spirit and then are converted by the Holy Spirit.

FALSE CATHOLIC CLAIM #19: The Catholic Church gave the world the Bible. – No. The Bible was given by GOD, through Moses, the prophets and the apostles. The early Church had access to those writings LONG BEFORE the Catholic Church ever published any bibles.

FALSE CATHOLIC CLAIM #20: The Catholic Church was started by Jesus Christ in 33AD. – No. The Catholic Church evolved and grew out of a blending of many ancient pagan religions with some elements of Christianity. This process was almost complete in the 4th century after Roman emperors Constantine and Theodosius eased up on persecution of Christians. However, Catholicism continued to evolve as noted HERE

FALSE CATHOLIC CLAIM #21: It is good to pray to Mary and to Catholic saints who have died. – No. To pray to anyone OTHER THAN Jesus requires elevating those people to gods and goddesses, as only such deities are able to hear and act upon prayers. So praying to non-deities is the sin of idolatry.

FALSE CATHOLIC CLAIM #22: Our salvation depends not only on Jesus but on our ability and willingness to do good works. – No. We have such a tremendous sin debt that no amount of good works could remove a single sin. We owe God a debt that could only be paid by the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. His death was of such value, that it could pay our sin debt IN FULL. When the Holy Spirit regenerates a sinner, they become a new creature in Christ, a person who WANTS to do good deeds out of love of Christ, not to attempt to pay a monumental sin debt. It is a huge insult to God to try to pay for something that Jesus already paid in full. God the Father is fully satisfied (well pleased) with what His Son Jesus accomplished at Calvary to pay the sin debt of all sinners who will come to believe in the Jesus of the Bible who saves sinners by His merits alone. Any good works that a person does to attempt to contribute towards their salvation are looked at by God as filthy rags. And any such attempts by sinners are in fact declaring that what Jesus did on the cross wasn’t good enough to pay their sin debt so they need to help pay it too. There is no greater insult to the propitiatory atonement of Christ than that.

If the Bible is a Catholic book as the Catholic Church claims, then why does the Bible…

  1. refer to all Christians as saints including those still alive? (1 Corinthians 1:2).
  2. teach against the veneration and exaltation of Mary? (Luke 11:27-28).
  3. declare that all Christians are priests? (1 Peter 2:5&9).
  4. condemn special clothing for church leaders/clergy? (Matthew. 23:5-6).
  5. condemn making and bowing down to religious images? (Exodus 20:4-5).
  6. teach that baptism is by immersion, not sprinkling or pouring? (Colossians 2:12).
  7. forbid addressing religious leaders as “father”? (Matthew 23:9).
  8. teach that Christ is the only foundation, not the apostle Peter? (1 Corinthians 3:11).
  9. state that there is one mediator, not many? (1 Timothy 2:5).
  10. teach that church leaders (bishops, elders, deacons) must be married? (1 Timothy 3:2, 4-5).
  11. deny the primacy of Peter as the sole head of the Church on earth? (Luke 22:24-27).
  12. oppose the teaching of purgatory? (Hebrews 9:27).
  13. make no mention of infant baptism, indulgences, confessing sins to priests, praying the rosary?
  14. make no mention of the use of holy water, scapulars, miraculous medals, candles and mass cards?

Pagan Gods And Goddesses That Became Catholic Saints

Catholic virgin mary pagan fertility goddess worship

Introduction:

There is little if any difference between many pagan gods and Catholic saints. In fact, many Catholic saints are nothing more than renamed (rebranded) pagan gods and goddesses. Like their pagan counterparts, Catholic saints are associated with specific talents or responsibilities – a trade or craft, healing a certain disease, overseeing a particular city, etc. and are put under the authority of a leader god, with Zeus, Odin, and Shiva being some of the leader gods of pagan religions. Catholicism is not true biblical Christianity but rather a blending of elements of Christianity with many various pagan religious customs. This becomes evident when one studies the origins of many so-called Catholic “saints”.

Some examples of pagan gods that morphed into Catholic saints:

The most prominent example of a pagan goddess being transformed into a Catholic saint is of the various fertility goddesses such as Semiramis and Isis being transformed into the Catholic saint Mary a.k.a. virgin Mary

Similarly, several pagan “mother-child” pairs of deities including the pagan goddess Semiramis and her son Tammuz, were adopted by the Catholic Church to become their virgin Mary and baby Jesus.

The Greek goddess Demeter (a goddess of many festivals, the primary festival being Thesmophoria, which fell in late October) became the Catholic saint Demetrios, a masculine warrior saint, whose feast day is October 26.

The Greek goddess Aphrodite became the Catholic saint Aphrodite.

The Greek goddess Nike became the Catholic saint Nicholas, who was extremely popular wherever shipping was important.

The Roman god Mars (originally a god who guarded wheat fields) became the Catholic saint Martin. Although March is the month associated with Mars the major festival for him in Christian times now usually falls in February, called Mardi Gras.

The Roman god Quirinus became the Catholic saint Cyrinus, of which there are various “equestrian warrior saints” such as saint Cyr in France, and saint Quirina, mother of saint Lawrence.

The Roman gods known as the Lares became the Catholic saint Lawrence. The Lares were gods who protected the grain growing in fields. In Italian, he became saint Lorenzo beyond the Walls, meaning outside of the walls of the city, for which there is still a church in Rome, with many “daughter” churches which were spawned off of it.

The Roman goddess Venus became the Catholic saint Venera (with a feminized ending to her name because “us” looks like a masculine ending in Latin).

The Roman gods known as the Gemini, who were protectors of sailors in Roman pagan times, became the Catholic Sanctos Gemino.

The Proto-Indo-European god Yama became the Catholic saint James.

The Zoroastrian god Ahura Mazda became the Catholic saint Ahura Mazda, in the early Syriac Christian church.

Not all Catholics saints are even based on pagan gods. Some are based on pagan holidays. For example the Roman festival of Caro Patri (“Dear Parents” a festival to remember one’s ancestors) became the festival of saint Peter’s Chair in the Roman Catholic Martyrology a.k.a. “saints calendar”.

How To Tell A FALSE Christian From A TRUE Christian

Please note: we are mainly comparing Catholics to true Christians.

difference between Catholic and true Christian

“They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him” – Titus 1:16

A false Christian prays to Mary and to many man-made “saints”. A true Christians prays to Jesus, not to ANY man-made “saints”.

A false Christian owns statues, calling them “sacred objects”. A true Christian calls those religious statues “idols”.

A false Christian bows down to statues, calling it “veneration”. A true Christian calls that behavior “idolatry”.

A false Christian dedicates shrines to their Jesus substitutes (their saints). A true Christian does not imitate pagans.

A false Christian has their Church headquarters in the Vatican. A true Christian’s Church headquarters are in Heaven only.

A false Christian has a “holy father” in Rome. A true Christian has only ONE holy Father and He resides in Heaven.

A false Christian has various authoritative doctrinal writings on equal footing with the Bible. A true Christian’s sole ultimate doctrinal authority is the Bible.

A false Christian confesses their sins to a man they call their priest. A true Christian confesses their sins to God and to one another (meaning the person they sinned against).

A false Christian believes that Jesus inhabits millions of wafers worldwide. A true Christian knows that communion is only a symbolic memorial service of the death of Jesus Christ.

A false Christian has a false works gospel that includes sacraments and the merits of the sinner in addition to the death of Jesus. A true Christian’s gospel is a salvation plan resting solely in the Lord Jesus Christ and in His merits alone.
