Eternity Without God?
“And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb” [Revelation 6:15-16]
Those of us who think of death and the next life often think that those who don’t go to heaven will either be annihilated (cease to exist) or will spend eternity without God. For the lost, the unbelievers, the unsaved who die in their sins, the truth may be very different. The very thing that makes heaven a wonderful and glorious place for its inhabitants is what makes hell so unbearable for those who reside there… the presence of a thrice-holy God whose love for those who have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ is as passionate as his hatred of those who have cursed Him and trampled on his commandments their entire lives. Are your sins covered in the blood of the Lamb? Though they be as red as scarlet, have they become as white as snow? Has God separated you from your sins as far as the east is from the west? Were you once an ungodly sinner, one for whom Christ died? OR are you still dead in your trespasses? Are you still spiritually blind and deaf and naked? Will you be running towards Christ or running from Him on that great and terrible day? Will He be your Savior or your Judge? If you are not sure, the Bible makes it plain… except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish… those who believe not are damned… seek ye the Lord while He may be found… Call ye upon Him while he is near.
“For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?”
[Revelation 6:17]
