Catholic Fairy Tales
“When they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.” Romans 1:21
Introduction
Sadly, but most assuredly true, the Catholic Church and its associated off-shoots (“rites” as they are called), is a church full of myths, man-made traditions and made-up dogma, based upon nothing but the vain imaginations of sinful men, men looking for that proverbial back door into heaven, the door that does not exist, the door of “works”. Much of Catholic doctrine and practices are derived from pagan religions and have no basis in Scripture, so we are referring to those Catholic teachings as “fairy tales”. Here are some examples of the vain imaginations of this counterfeit “Christian” church that so many people have been indoctrinated – from brith – to trust their eternal souls to.
An imaginary goddess named Mary who bears no resemblance to the Mary of the Bible and who has supernatural powers that only God actually possesses, like the ability to hear and relay all the prayers of all Catholics around the world. Mary would have to be omnipresent in order to do that and only God has that capability. The Catholic Mary has many goddess-like names including the Queen of Heaven and Queen of the Universe. This Catholic Mary is patterned after many pagan goddesses, primarily pagan fertility goddesses such as Ishtar and Semiramis.
An imaginary Jesus who needs all sorts of help to get you into heaven, a Jesus whose death on the cross did not really atone for anyone’s sins, except perhaps in some very nebulous sense. The Catholic Church would never credit their Jesus with having paid for ALL the sins of even one single soul, otherwise there would be no need – in their view – for their elaborate system of works salvation which includes their 7 Sacraments and various forms of meritorious “good deeds”.
An imaginary holding pen for the dead which the Catholic Church calls “Purgatory” where they claim their followers will go after death to be “purged”, through various forms of punishments, to eradicate any sins they had at death, in order to prepare them for heaven. In reality, Catholics retain ALL their sins at death if they die “in their sins” without being “born from above” by the Holy Spirit.
An imaginary infallible supreme leader like the man whom they refer to as the pope, who has all the same flaws, if not more, than the rest of us sinful men and women. Yet this pope has the blasphemous title of “Holy Father”. He manages to fool vast numbers of people by way of his fancy robes, great wealth and power, knowledge of ancient languages like Latin and by surrounding himself with people who all claim he is who he says he is.
Imaginary sins made up by the Roman Catholic church like the “sin of presumption”, which states that it is a sin to presume to know for sure that you possess salvation, before you leave this world. But the Bible teaches we can know that we have eternal life in 1John 5:13 and elsewhere. And THAT IS the Good News of the Gospel, that you can know that “in Christ” – by His FULL PAYMENT of sin at the cross – you can POSSESS eternal life and can KNOW that you do, in this lifetime. You can KNOW you possess eternal life here and now because God INDWELLS all true believers with His Holy Spirit as stated in 1 John 4:13: “Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit”.
Imaginary events like the assumption of Mary directly into heaven, bypassing the grave, even though nobody saw it happen and it was never mentioned anywhere in the Bible.
Imaginary history like the perpetual virginity of Mary, in conflict with the Bible that makes mention of the brothers and sisters (half-brothers/half-sisters) that Jesus had (Mark 3:31-32, Mark 6:3, Matthew 13:55-56).
Imaginary priests whose purpose was abolished at the cross of Christ yet these men know it not and go about offering a sacrifice (the sacrifice of the mass) in vain. The Catholic church had to invent what they call “the sacrifice of the mass” in order to have a sacrifice for their “priests” to offer up to God. Hebrews 9:11 states: “But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.”
Imaginary saints – people who died in their sins and went to hell (because they died trusting in Rome’s false gospel and not the true Gospel of salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone) but who did lots of self-righteous good deeds in the name of the Catholic Church before they died. Therefore Rome deems them special people worthy of special recognition and even adoration. In reality, many of the early Catholic “saints” were nothing more than renamed pagan deities that had been absorbed into the Catholic Church along with the pagans who worshipped them, as a result of Emperor Constantine’s “Edict of Milan” – an agreement to treat Christians benevolently within the Roman Empire after many years of intense persecution. And then in 380 AD, Theodosius the Great, emperor of Rome from 379 AD to 395 AD issued his Edict of Thessalonica making “Christianity” the state religion which further contributed to the integration of pagan religious practices in the brand of Christianity that became known as Catholicism.
Summary
The author of this article was born and raised in the Catholic Church and became spiritually reborn by God at age 30, at which point he started carefully examining the things he was taught as a Catholic and comparing those things with what the Bible teaches. It is his hope and prayer that any Catholics who read this article will also examine the Bible and thereby learn that Catholicism does NOT teach the truth about God and the Gospel of salvation through the merits of Christ Jesus alone. — RM Kane
