Bizarre Teachings Of The Roman Catholic Church Regarding Eucharists
Somewhat Less Commonly Known Catholic Teachings About Their Communion Wafers
Introduction:
The Bible says that we are to “earnestly contend for the faith” (Jude 1:3). We must do this to keep the doctrine of Christ pure and free from heresies: “But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies” (2 Peter 2:1). The Bible also says:
“Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God.” (2 John 1:9)
Does the Catholic Church abide in the doctrine of Christ? Let’s check with some Catholic teachings about communion to see for ourselves… In Catholicism, the communion bread is in the shape of a prefabricated round wafer and it is referred to by the Catholic Church as a “eucharist”, a HOLY eucharist for that matter. They believe and teach that each and every communion wafer is or contains the ENTIRE literal body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ – “under the appearance” of bread. This man-made doctrine is referred to as “transubstantiation”. For some reason, the Catholic Church, during its most celebrated activity “the sacrifice of the mass”, the congregants are not offered any wine or grape juice (i.e. fruit of the vine) during this all-so-important religious ceremony. And that is perhaps the reason why the Catholic Church claims that their eucharist wafers contain the not just the body, but also the blood of Jesus.
The bizarre rules surrounding the eating of eucharists:
“It is well to remark here that the teeth must never be applied to the sacred Host when it enters the mouth. It must be swallowed by the sole aid of the tongue; and if a difficultly should be experienced in this respect, on no account must the finger be introduced to overcome it” (A History Of The Mass And Its Ceremonies, by John O’Brien, p. 367)
“Out of respect for the Holy Eucharist, the communicants are cautioned against expectorating during the entire day” (A History Of The Mass And Its Ceremonies, by John O’Brien, p. 384-385)
“But if a man had no wife, but a concubine instead of a wife, let him not be refused communion” (Catholic Encyclopedia, Volume IV, p. 207)
“In cases when through negligence a little of the Precious Blood falls on the ground, or on the altar stone, the Corporal, the altar clothes, or the clothing of the priest, it must be taken up at once by the lips” (The Eucharist – Law and Practice, by Canon P. Durieux, p. 149).
“The Lord being propitiated by the celebration of the Eucharistic Sacrifice, imparts the grace and gift of penance, remits sins and crimes, be they ever so great” (The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, by Nicholas Gihr, p. 161)
“It (fasting before communion) consists in this, that the communicant has not taken, since midnight, any food or drink or medicine, even the least possible quantity. It would be a mortal sin to receive Communion after having intentionally taken a few drops of water after midnight; even an error of good faith (v.g., the taking of a drink of water at two o’clock in the morning because the clock had stopped at a quarter before twelve) does not dispense from the law” (The Eucharist – Law and Practice, by Canon P. Durieux, p. 179).”
“It is also permitted to smoke, to take snuff, to chew tobacco, even though some fragment may mix with the saliva and enter the stomach” (The Eucharist – Law and Practice, by Canon P. Durieux, p. 180-181).
“The reason which actuated the Church in prescribing communion under one species of bread alone were very grave; and it would be a mortal sin to violate this law” (The Eucharist – Law and Practice, by Canon P. Durieux, p. 207).
There you have it – what the Catholic church has to say about communion – right from the horse’s mouth, without any reference to scripture either. Logical? Rational? Scriptural? You decide. If you, the reader, are Catholic, please do not take this information as some kind of personal attack but rather as an attempt to bring some things to your attention that you should be aware of if you wish to continue defending the doctrines of Rome as if they were the doctrines of the Bible.
