Introduction

The New Testament (NT) of the Holy Bible is a record testifying against the Catholic Church. It is a testimony – from the first page to the last – against the many false doctrines and false practices of the Church of Rome. The following are just a few examples to back up this claim.

There is no mention in the NT of the Rosary. But there is mention against vain repetitious prayers (Matthew 6:7).

There is no mention in the NT of statues. But there is mention in many places against such idols (1 Cor 12:2, 1Thes 1:9, Rev 9:20).

There is no mention in the NT of a Catholic priesthood except in the past during the time of the temple sacrifices and in the present of the priesthood of all believers and of our high priest the Lord Jesus (1 Peter 2:9 & Hebrews 4:14).

There is no mention in the NT of confession to a Catholic priest. But there is mention of confessing sins to one another (James 5:16).

There is no mention in the NT of Mary being a mediator. But there is mention of there being only ONE mediator, Jesus Christ (1Tim 2:5).

There is no mention in the NT of the often repeated sacrifice of the mass. But there is mention of Jesus’ death being the FINAL sacrifice for sin (Hebrews 10:12).

There is no mention in the NT of praying TO dead people (whom the Catholic church refers to as “saints”). But there is mention of praying for one another of your fellow believers in Christ (Praying to God directly: , Psalm 54:2, Nehemiah 2:4, Psalm 55:1, Psalm 66:19, Jeremiah 37:3, Acts 10:2, Romans 15:30, 2 Corinthians 13:7) – (Praying for one another: 2 Corinthians 1:11, Colossians 1:9, 1 Thessalonians 5:25, 2 Thessalonians 3:1, Hebrews 13:18)

There is no mention in the NT of the sacrament of penance (saying prayers or doing anything to participate in the absolution of one’s sins). But there is frequent mention of repentance (turning away from sin and towards holiness and towards the God of the Bible). The ability to truly repent and turn towards God is an ability that God has to grant to the sinner (Acts 11:28).

There is no mention in the NT of a Catholic priest being given the power on earth to forgive anyone’s sins. But there is mention of the Lord Jesus Christ being able to forgive sins and cleanse a sinner’s soul from all unrighteousness (1John 1:9).

There is no mention in the NT of a place of temporary punishment and purification for sin which the Catholic church refers to as Purgatory. But there is frequent mention of a place of of permanent torment and punishment called Hell (Matthew 5:29, Matthew 18:9, Mark 9:44,46-48, Luke 12:4-5).

There is no mention in the NT of the apostle Peter being the first pope, nor is the world pope even found in the Bible. Also, there is no mention of Peter ever being in Rome. Now isn’t that interesting?

Summary

I could go on and on but you get the point I am sure. The bottom line is that CATHOLICISM (also know as Romanism and Popery) is so far removed from Biblical Christianity that the two are really as different as night is from day. The only reason that there are so many Catholics in the world, thinking that they are in that “one true church” is because people in general are basically willfully ignorant, especially of history and they are fooled by Christian sounding terminology, and by religious costumes and customs.

Also, people are easily deceived when indoctrinated as children. And lastly, mankind hates the true gospel which says that man is a hopelessly lost sinner, who cannot contribute one iota to his salvation, and so he is therefore completely at the mercy of an infinitely holy God for salvation. And it is this last reason that causes so many Catholics to stay Catholic when presented with the truth… they LIKE their false religion. It gives them a false sense of security, thinking that they will get to heaven by their own self-righteous works, and they WANT to believe that they are not so much at the mercy of God, when nothing could be further from the truth.

You may be wondering where the Catholic Church got all these ideas from, that now make up their official doctrines and practices. Many pagan practices became combined with Christian practices when emperor Constantine declared Christianity the state religion in the fourth century AD. What masquerades as the “one true Christian Church” (a.k.a. the Roman Catholic Church) is in fact a huge counterfeit of true biblical Christianity. A “works-based” religion that has man-centered solutions to the sin problem is always more popular than true religion (one that depends on the grace and mercy of a very holy God). So, it was easy for the Catholic Church to grow as large as it has.
