It Could Be Good – It Could Be Bad

Hiding behind a rock could be good, very good:

 
“And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;” [2Samuel 22:2]”
 
“The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.” [2Samuel 22:3]
 
“The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation.” [2Samuel 22:47]
 
“The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.” [Psalm 18:2]
 
“For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me.” [Psalm 31:3]
 
“To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.” [Psalm 92:15]
 
 

Hiding behind a rock could be bad, very bad:

“And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.  And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb” [Revelation 6:15-17]

 
So, hiding behind a rock is a good thing or a bad thing depending on WHICH ROCK you are hiding behind and what is THE REASON WHY YOU ARE HIDING.
 
Is the Lord Jesus Christ YOUR rock that you are counting on to hide you from the wrath of God on Judgment Day? Are you leaning on Him and trusting in Him ALONE for the salvation of your soul? Or are you going to be calling on the rocks in the mountains around you to fall on you – to hide you from God’s wrath on Judgment Day? My friend, there is no amount of ordinary rocks that will be able to hide you from God’s wrath on that great and terrible day. Seek the Lord Jesus Christ now, while He may be found. Hide behind HIM before it is too late, before you become one of those who will be calling on the rocks to fall on YOU. — RM Kane
