About Protestantism

Various aspects of Protestantism, including but not limited to views on salvation, Bible versions, history, and denominations.

True Christianity seeks to ensure that all Christian teaching (doctrine) and Christian living is in agreement with Scripture (the Bible).  The Protestant Reformation came about with this purpose in mind… an attempt – by many Catholic priests, monks and other Catholics – to reform (correct) the Catholic church to be in line with bible teachings.  This is where the expression “Sola Scripturea” com from – which is Latin for Scripture Alone. The teachers and preachers who grew of out this “protestant” movement were protesting against many serious religious issues of their time:

  • First and foremost: false teachings about salvation
  • False teachings about God, Mary, Jesus and man’s own spiritual condition
  • Serious abuses of power in the Catholic leadership
  • Morally corrupt church leaders

When Does God Judge A Nation?

When Does God Judge A Nation?

Every day the headlines get worse and the future bleaker. My immediate thought was: Is God judging America? Ascribing God’s judgment to a person, event, or country can be a precarious endeavor. We live in a fallen world and therefore bad things sometimes happen just because of sinful human nature. However, nothing happens unless God allows it or He causes it to occur. In biblical times a prophet made it clear that… Continue reading

Will God Judge America?

Will God Judge America?

Many of us have put the American flag above the cross and Bible. We call this patriotism. But patriotism is wrong, if it takes its place above the cross and the Word of God.

Many American Christians would call it unpatriotic or “religiously incorrect” to say that God might, or will judge America for its wickedness. Many churches, pastors, and Christians would reject it. They just don’t want to hear that kind of thing; and most… Continue reading

Many Have Asked If God Will Judge America

Many Have Asked If God Will Judge America

Originally published: September 28, 2001

Many have asked if God will judge America. They have asked if we have gone too far to avoid God’s terrible and final judgment. Let’s face it. We have mercilessly killed over 45 million little baby boys and girls. We have thrown God out of school, banished Him from the schoolyard, and ripped His Ten Commandments from the walls. We have called what is evil good and… Continue reading

Christ Died For The Ungodly

by Horatius Bonar

The divine testimony concerning man is, that he is a sinner. God bears witness against him, not for him; and testifies that "there is none righteous, no, not one"; that there is "none that doeth good"; none "that understandeth"; none that even seeks after God, and, still more, none that loves Him (Psa. 14:1-3; Rom. 3:10-12). God speaks of man kindly, but severely; as one yearning over a lost child, yet as one who will make no terms with sin, and will "by no means clear the guilty." <continued>
