About Protestantism

Various aspects of Protestantism, including but not limited to views on salvation, Bible versions, history, and denominations.

True Christianity seeks to ensure that all Christian teaching (doctrine) and Christian living is in agreement with Scripture (the Bible).  The Protestant Reformation came about with this purpose in mind… an attempt – by many Catholic priests, monks and other Catholics – to reform (correct) the Catholic church to be in line with bible teachings.  This is where the expression “Sola Scripturea” com from – which is Latin for Scripture Alone. The teachers and preachers who grew of out this “protestant” movement were protesting against many serious religious issues of their time:

  • First and foremost: false teachings about salvation
  • False teachings about God, Mary, Jesus and man’s own spiritual condition
  • Serious abuses of power in the Catholic leadership
  • Morally corrupt church leaders

The Savoy Declaration Of Faith And Order Of 1658

The Savoy Declaration Of Faith And Order Of 1658

The Savoy Declaration of Faith and Order is a Congregationalist version of the Westminster Confession. It was composed in 1658 at the Savoy, in the Stand in London. It is very similar to the Westminster Confession of Faith, the real main differences being an omission of chapters 30 and 31, an addition of one chapter (chapter 20), and modification of chapters 23, 24, and 25 (which because of the addition… Continue reading

Pretrib Diehards – A Brief History of Pretrib Beginnings

Pretrib Diehards

(A Brief History of Pretrib Beginnings)

An Article by Dave MacPherson

Since the 1970’s stunning new data has been surfacing about the pretribulation rapture’s long-covered-up beginnings in the 1800’s. In recent years several persons associated with Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS) – which had long been pretribized – have reportedly gone to Britain to check on my research sources and then write books opposing my claims. In 1990 an Ohio pastor told me that Dr. [name omitted], the… Continue reading

Is Christ Your Lord?

Is Christ Your Lord?

by A.W. Pink

Is Jesus Christ Your Lord Gospel Tract

We do not ask, is Christ your “Saviour,” but is He really and truly, your LORD? If he be not your Lord, then most certainly He is not your “Saviour.” Those who have not received Christ Jesus as their “Lord,” and yet suppose Him to be their “Saviour,” are deluded, and their hope rests on a foundation of sand. Multitudes are deceived on this vital point; and therefore, if the reader values his… Continue reading

As I picked up the Lake County News Herald for February 9, 1984 my eye was arrested by a headline which stated: “Graham’s Help on Vatican Ties.” The article proved to be an Associated Press release which said.-

A spokesman for Billy Graham confirms that the evangelist played a behind-the-scenes role in President Reagan’s decision to establish formal diplomatic relations with the Vatican, a newspaper reported Yesterday

It would be much easier to remain silent on the Billy Graham issue. For a number of years he has been one of the 10 most admired men in the United States, according to polls. He has been close to the top in popularity and he has no rivals in the field of religion. Without a doubt, he is the most popular… Continue reading

Christ Died For The Ungodly

by Horatius Bonar

The divine testimony concerning man is, that he is a sinner. God bears witness against him, not for him; and testifies that "there is none righteous, no, not one"; that there is "none that doeth good"; none "that understandeth"; none that even seeks after God, and, still more, none that loves Him (Psa. 14:1-3; Rom. 3:10-12). God speaks of man kindly, but severely; as one yearning over a lost child, yet as one who will make no terms with sin, and will "by no means clear the guilty." <continued>
