Why Good People Do Not Go To Heaven
Why Good People Do Not Go To Heaven
No one is “good” in the eyes of God:
Mark 10:18 – “And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.”
Ecclesiastes 7:20 – “For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.”
Romans 3:10 – “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one”
Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
Isaiah 64:6 – “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”
There will only be sinners in heaven – saved sinners,
sinners whose sins have been paid for by Jesus Christ:
Luke 5:31 – “And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.”
Matthew 9:13 – “But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
Luke 19:10 – “the Son of Man is come to seek and save that which was lost”
Those who think they are good enough for heaven are deceived:
“And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.” [Luke 18:9-14]
Jeremiah 17:9 – “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”
1 John 1:8 – “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”
Remember, one sin is enough to qualify you for hell:
James 2:10 – “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”
God must qualify you for heaven, and He has provided only one narrow way:
We are not qualified for heaven just because we do religious things or do good deeds or just because we tell God we are sorry for our sins. There are many many sins we commit that we don’t even realize are sins. Saying you are sorry or doing what you think is a good deed does not pay for your sins either. God is a holy and just God so each and every sin must be paid for, either by you or by God. It takes all eternity in hell to pay for our sins if we pay for them ourselves. Also, we are not qualified for heaven just because we are born into the “right” religion. Salvation is a gift from God, a gift that was paid for by the suffering and death of Jesus Christ (God in the flesh):
Matthew 1:23 – “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
When a person receives true salvation from God they are receiving perfect righteousness:
There is ONLY one way that a person can be considered completely righteous by God. All their sins would have to be paid for and only the suffering of a sinless Divine Savior could pay for their sins. Jesus Christ is that Divine Savior. Jesus Christ suffered a punishment that enabled Him to pay the complete penalty for all the sins of all the people He came to save:
2 Corinthians 5:21- “For he hath made him [Jesus] to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
The gift of salvation is for God’s people, and God’s people alone:
Matthew 1:20-211 – “But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”
Are you one of God’s people?
How do you know? Is there proof of this in your life? Are you acting like one of God’s children by telling others about Jesus Christ and how He is the only way to heaven and that there is hell to pay for those that die without Christ as their savior?…
John 14:6 – “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
