Overview Of Jehovah’s Witnesses
Like so many people of various religious backgrounds, the Jehovah’s witnesses are ignorant of the history of their belief system and their organization. Long before Charles Taze Russell came along with his “new light” on the Bible, there was a man named Arius. In the 3rd century AD he taught pretty much the same thing that the Watchtower Society teaches about the nature of Jesus Christ. Arius was pronounced a heretic by Christians of his day for his false teachings on the deity and nature of Christ. He taught that Jesus (God the Son) did not exist eternally with God the Father, thereby denying the Trinitarian nature of God. This heretical teaching of Arius became known as Arianism. Regarding salvation, Jehovahs Witnesses are often unaware that their organization teaches a brand of salvation referred to as Arminianism. This false gospel attributes greater goodness to fallen man than God attributes to him. “free-will” gospel which you can read more about by clicking HERE.
So the Jehovahs Witnesses, who pride themselves in being different from so many other false branches of Christianity, in fact have the same false, free-will, man-centered, “works” gospel.
One reason why the Jehovah’s Witnesses are wrong in their belief that the hell mentioned in the Bible is not eternal:
“The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! Good were it for that man if he had never been born.” [Mark 14:21]
If all the unsaved have to look forward to is annihilation (not eternity in hell) then Jesus would never had said the above statement. Annihilation is not “punishment”. A loving God would certainly punish people in hell forever if that God loves righteousness and hates sin as we read here in the Psalms:
“The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity. Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.” [Psalms 5:5-6]
