The Catholic Argument About There Being 40,000 Protestant Denominations

The Catholic Argument About There Being 40,000 Protestant Denominations

As Justification For Their Church Being The TRUE Church Of Jesus Christ

the rock of true christian church is Jesus Christ

When defending their counterfeit Church – the so-called “Holy Roman Catholic Church” – on various discussion forums I have been often told that there are 40,000 or more Protestant Denominations AND “they can’t all be right!”. So somehow that CLAIM legitimizes the Catholic Church, which has its OWN sects and divisions, though not as extensive.

Also, another Catholic argument is that the many Protestant denominations is a sign of disunity and confusion and God is not a god of confusion and God’s Church is a church of unity. Buddhists and Hindus could make similar claims of unity as justification for the supposed AUTHENTICITY of their respective religions. Unity WITHOUT TRUTH is a useless – and ultimately in the spiritual realm – a damnable attribute of one’s religion.

What these Catholics fail to understand, is that there are TWO types or classes of churches in existence right now:

1. THE TRUE SPIRITUAL CHURCH: All the INDIVIDUAL Christians world-wide, who have TRULY been “born from above” by the regeneration of the Holy Spirit. They are the “wheat” growing up among the “weeds” (the unregenerated) spoken of by the Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew chapter 13.

AND…

2. THE PHYSICAL, VISIBLE CHURCHES: Made up of those INDIVIDUALS attending or holding membership in ANY so-called Christian church or sect or denomination.

This second group of people includes both the saved and the unsaved… the regenerated and unregenerated… those who have been “born from above” by the regeneration of the Holy Spirit and those who have NOT been “born from above”… they just THINK they are Christians – because they are VISIBLE members of some particular church or sect or denomination. The unregenerated souls in these VISIBLE CHURCHES include both goats (those who never will be saved) and currently UNregenerated sheep.

The REAL Church:

NEEDS NO VATICAN OR SHRINES

NEEDS NO MASS, ALTAR OR EUCHARIST

NEEDS NO MARY MEDIATRIX OR STATUES

NEEDS NO POPE, CARDINALS OR BISHOPS

NEEDS NO CRUCIFIXES OR ROSARY BEADS

NEEDS NO PENANCE OR CONFESSION BOOTHS

NEEDS NO MIRACULOUS MEDALS OR SCAPULARS

NEEDS NO PRIESTS, MONKS, NUNS OR ALTAR BOYS

NEEDS NO LAST RITES, PURGATORY OR MASSES FOR THE DEAD

“Having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” – 2 Timothy 3:5

So the point here is that the TRUE Church established by the Lord Jesus Christ is that collective world-wide “body” of TRUE Christians, no matter what local church they are associated with or involved with. AND being a TRUE Christian, a GENUINE child of God, is not simply some label that you or others apply to yourself. It is not some membership role. It is NOTHING EXTERNAL. It is the SUPERNATURAL INTERNAL residing of the Holy Spirit in each INDIVIDUAL believer who has been TRULY “born again” by God… They are sinners whom the Holy Spirit has GIVEN BIRTH TO… turned into “new creatures in Christ” [2 Corinthians 5:17]… “translated INTO the kingdom of God’s dear Son” [Colossians 1:13]. Have YOU been supernaturally translated into God’s kingdom or are you still dead in your trespasses and sins… and therefore just one heartbeat away from eternity in Hell? — RM Kane

Christ Died For The Ungodly

by Horatius Bonar

The divine testimony concerning man is, that he is a sinner. God bears witness against him, not for him; and testifies that "there is none righteous, no, not one"; that there is "none that doeth good"; none "that understandeth"; none that even seeks after God, and, still more, none that loves Him (Psa. 14:1-3; Rom. 3:10-12). God speaks of man kindly, but severely; as one yearning over a lost child, yet as one who will make no terms with sin, and will "by no means clear the guilty." <continued>
