A Summary Of God’s Plan Of Salvation

A Summary Of God’s Plan Of Salvation

Salvation is by God’s GRACE and MERCY alone. By grace, is meant God’s UNMERITED favor. Contrary to Catholic teaching, grace is not something that enables you to EARN your salvation. [1, 2]

Salvation is by FAITH in Christ and His work at Calvary alone. Faith is a gift from God that enables a sinner, who had been alienated from God since birth, to trust God and to believe God and His Word in Scripture, to believe what God says about our spiritual bankruptcy and to believe what God says is the ONLY remedy for that bankruptcy. [2]

Salvation is by the Lord JESUS CHRIST alone and by the ransom payment He paid on the cross to atone for all the sins of all the sinners He came to save. No other currency can buy your salvation. The only currency acceptable to God is the blood of the Lamb of God who came to take away the sin of the world. [3, 4, 5]

When a sinner receives salvation from God, a supernatural transaction occurs. This is called the new birth or being “born again”. [6] This is the point at which the Holy Spirit regenerates a spiritually dead sinner, makes them “alive in Christ” [7] and enables them to hate the sins they used to love and love the righteous and holy things they used to hate or have no interest in.

Just as a person cannot be unborn physically, they cannot be unborn spiritually… they cannot lose their salvation [8]… When God adopts a sinner into His eternal family, that adoption is irreversible. God does not un-adopt His children. [9] To be “born again” is to have received the gift of eternal life. ETERNAL means eternal, not conditional life, not salvation on the maintenance plan. [10]

If you have any other plan of salvation, you are doomed to hell for all eternity. [11]

Christ Died For The Ungodly

by Horatius Bonar

The divine testimony concerning man is, that he is a sinner. God bears witness against him, not for him; and testifies that "there is none righteous, no, not one"; that there is "none that doeth good"; none "that understandeth"; none that even seeks after God, and, still more, none that loves Him (Psa. 14:1-3; Rom. 3:10-12). God speaks of man kindly, but severely; as one yearning over a lost child, yet as one who will make no terms with sin, and will "by no means clear the guilty." <continued>
