Preach The Gospel And When Necessary Use Words

Preach The Gospel And When Necessary Use Words:

Yet another lie from the pit of hell!

Preach the Gospel and when necessary use words

St. Francis of Assisi is said to have coined the phrase: “At all times share the Gospel and when necessary use words.” Nothing could be more unbiblical that than.  What a tragic mistake so many Christians make who quote and believe that false message.  The enemies of God have no greater joy than to see God’s people adhere to this “wordless” gospel.   When you read the gospel of John, Jesus makes it perfectly clear that the true Gospel is something that MUST be preached, must be spoken, that in fact God commands his people to boldly and clearly proclaim to a God-hating sin-loving world. We can clearly see what this sin-loving world thinks of the Gospel when we look at how this world reacted to Jesus when He confronted sin and sinners:

John 8:37 – “I know that ye are Abraham’s seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my WORD hath no place in you.”

Sinners hate a holy God, whose people dare to confront them about their sinfulness and their dire need for a savior, the one and only savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

John 10:30 – “I and my Father are one.  31  Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.  32  Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?  33  The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.”

The Bible makes it clear that God uses His WORD to convict and to convert sinners:

Romans 10:17 – “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the WORD of God.”

John 12:47 – “And if any man hear my WORDS, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.  48  He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my WORDS, hath one that judgeth him: the WORD that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.”

It is our silence that allows sin to propagate and our boldness in speaking out that keeps sin in check. Jesus made it clear to all of us that His true followers are those who tell others about Him:

Matthew 10:32 – “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.  33  But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.”

Saying “Preach the Gospel and use words if necessary.” is like saying: “Feed the hungry and use food if necessary.”

Christ Died For The Ungodly

by Horatius Bonar

The divine testimony concerning man is, that he is a sinner. God bears witness against him, not for him; and testifies that "there is none righteous, no, not one"; that there is "none that doeth good"; none "that understandeth"; none that even seeks after God, and, still more, none that loves Him (Psa. 14:1-3; Rom. 3:10-12). God speaks of man kindly, but severely; as one yearning over a lost child, yet as one who will make no terms with sin, and will "by no means clear the guilty." <continued>
