Some Examples Of Evangelistic Letters

The following sample letters were composed to give you an idea of how you might use the written word to get the Gospel out through the mail (either electronic mail or US mail). May the Lord bless you as you earnestly contend for the faith and as you compel the lost to come to Christ. You are encouraged to modify these letters in any way you wish for your own individual use or just use them to get an idea of how you might write evangelistic letters of your own.

Sample Evangelistic Letter For Catholics:

The letter shown below is an example of the kind of evangelistic letter you can send to Catholics you know and even those you do not know such as priests in your area whose names are listed in your phone book. You may wish to enclose copies of the tracts at our website that are written to a Catholic audience such as “Which Jesus?”, “How do you determine who is Pro-Catholic or Anti-Catholic?”, “What Is God’s Grace?” and “Only Two”.

Dear friend:

I am writing to provide you with some recommended reading materials for people who are concerned about their spiritual welfare and that of others. If you are genuinely concerned about where you and others will spend eternity you will want to be absolutely sure that you know the truth about God’s wonderful plan of salvation and you will want to share that truth with others. But that means that you must understand it for yourself. Many Catholics do not understand what the Gospel of Jesus Christ really is nor do they understand who Jesus really is and what He accomplished on the cross. So these folks are spiritually lost and under God’s wrath if He does not save them before they leave this world.

The enclosed literature will give you a great deal of things to consider about what YOU are currently trusting in to be prepared for Judgment Day. As the Bible says: “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith” [2 Corinthians 13:5]. Is your faith SOLELY in Christ and what He has already DONE or are you corrupting the beautiful work of salvation He accomplished, by ADDING your own self-righteous sin-tainted deeds? Are you trusting in the merits of the spotless Lamb of God ALONE or are you not satisfied with that glorious salvation and feel you need to “do your part”. Did anyone ever tell you that you have done your part already?… you have sinned… you have proven your need for salvation… therefore you have done your part: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” [Romans 3:23] … “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one” [Romans 3:10] … “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags” [Isaiah 64:6] … “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” [James 2:10].

You need to make sure that you are not one of those souls who Christ was referring to when he said: “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” [Matthew 7:21-23]. How do YOU know if you are doing the will of God? It is the will of God that His people are to be holy and to be perfect:

“Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” [1Peter 1:16]

“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” [Matthew 5:48]

So does that apply to you, and how do you know?

May God bless you as you seek the truth that sets men free, free from man’s gospels of works and free from the curse of the law (i.e. eternal damnation). Please feel free to contact me to discuss these matters of great importance. I would love to talk to you more about God’s magnificent salvation plan.

General Purpose Evangelistic Letter:

The letter shown below is very similar to the letter for Catholics but it has been modified so you can can send it to ANYONE including any church leaders in your area whose names are listed in your phone book. You may wish to enclose copies of the tracts at our website such as “Only Two”, which is a tract that contrasts man’s gospel of works with God’s Gospel of grace.

Since the Good Lord saved me by His amazing grace almost 14 years ago, I have discovered that many church leaders (and most professing Christians) do not understand what the Gospel of Jesus Christ really is, nor do they understand who Jesus really is and what He accomplished on the cross. So these folks are spiritually lost and under God’s wrath if He does not save them before they leave this world… Now does that sound hard to believe? Well then, why do you think Jesus said: “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” [Mat. 7:13-14]

The enclosed literature will give you a great deal of things to consider about what YOU are currently trusting in to be prepared for Judgment Day. As the Bible says: “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith” [2 Cor. 13:5]. Has God supernaturally converted your soul? “Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.” [Mat. 18:3]. Did anyone ever tell you that you have done your part already?… you have been born and you have sinned… you have proven your need for salvation… therefore you have done your part: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” [Rom. 3:23] … “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one” [Rom. 3:10] … “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags” [Isa. 64:6] … “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” [Jam. 2:10].

There are awful consequences for dying in one’s sins: “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” [Rev. 20:15] … “And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night” [Rev. 14:11]

Make sure that you are not one of those souls who Christ was referring to when he said: “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” [Mat. 7:21-23].

“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. ” [Mat. 5:48]

Evangelistic Note To Enclose With Tracts You Mail To People:

It is a good idea to personalize the message of the Gospel. You may wish to write an explanatory note to include with tracts that you mail to people in bill payments, etc. A sample note is shown below.

Dear friend:

I hope you are having a good day. I’ve enclosed some very important literature because I care about where you will spend eternity. Why would I care? Only because Jesus Christ came into my life and enabled me to care about the souls of people who do not even care about their own souls. Please take the time to read the material because it could be the most important thing you ever read. It could have the answers to questions that you never thought there were answers to. Please make sure that you are not one of the people that the Bible says this about:

“For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.” [Rom. 10:3]

“And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” [Rev. 20:15]

Take care and may God bless you as you seek to know more about Him and how only He can get you ready for heaven.

Sincerely,

Christ Died For The Ungodly

by Horatius Bonar

The divine testimony concerning man is, that he is a sinner. God bears witness against him, not for him; and testifies that "there is none righteous, no, not one"; that there is "none that doeth good"; none "that understandeth"; none that even seeks after God, and, still more, none that loves Him (Psa. 14:1-3; Rom. 3:10-12). God speaks of man kindly, but severely; as one yearning over a lost child, yet as one who will make no terms with sin, and will "by no means clear the guilty." <continued>
