About Protestantism

Various aspects of Protestantism, including but not limited to views on salvation, Bible versions, history, and denominations.

True Christianity seeks to ensure that all Christian teaching (doctrine) and Christian living is in agreement with Scripture (the Bible).  The Protestant Reformation came about with this purpose in mind… an attempt – by many Catholic priests, monks and other Catholics – to reform (correct) the Catholic church to be in line with bible teachings.  This is where the expression “Sola Scripturea” com from – which is Latin for Scripture Alone. The teachers and preachers who grew of out this “protestant” movement were protesting against many serious religious issues of their time:

  • First and foremost: false teachings about salvation
  • False teachings about God, Mary, Jesus and man’s own spiritual condition
  • Serious abuses of power in the Catholic leadership
  • Morally corrupt church leaders

Do You Get It?

Do you get it?

people are ignorant of God and His holiness

Muslims don’t get it.
Hindus don’t get it.
Buddhists don’t get it.
Atheists certainly don’t get it.
Catholics don’t get it.
Many Protestants don’t get it.

Do YOU get it?

Get what?

The fact that God is SO HOLY that no amount of YOUR good deeds could ever remove even a single sin from your record.  Spending time in a place of purging in the afterlife won’t fix your sin problem either.… Continue reading

Signs Of The Times

Signs Of The Times

signs of the times

I watch with sadness as more and more of the Bible’s predictions of the end times are coming to fruition. One major sign is this: The world is becoming more and more spiritually blind, while believing they are becoming more and more enlightened. Other signs include “gay marriage”, widespread abortion, rampant sexual immorality and STDs, overuse of psychotropic drugs to treat any perceived bad feelings, broken homes and broken marriages, profanity and vulgarity becoming an integral… Continue reading

The Lutheran Formula Of Concord – 1576

Introduction

Formula of Concord (1577) (German, Konkordienformel; Latin, Formula concordiae; also the “Bergic Book” or the “Bergen Book”) is an authoritative Lutheran statement of faith (called a confession, creed, or “symbol”) that, in its two parts (Epitome and Solid Declaration), makes up the final section of the Lutheran Corpus Doctrinae or Body of Doctrine, known as the Book of Concord (most references to these texts are to the original… Continue reading

post-trip pre-trib rapture of the Christian Church

Here are some materials you may wish to examine to see some of the views on Dispensationalism, including some opposing views that are no longer very popular within the Church at large of our day, especially the Church in the United States. Historically, did the corporate Church really believe in and teach about a secret rapture of the Church prior to a 7 year tribulation period? Or did they generally believe that the rapture would be… Continue reading

Christ Died For The Ungodly

by Horatius Bonar

The divine testimony concerning man is, that he is a sinner. God bears witness against him, not for him; and testifies that "there is none righteous, no, not one"; that there is "none that doeth good"; none "that understandeth"; none that even seeks after God, and, still more, none that loves Him (Psa. 14:1-3; Rom. 3:10-12). God speaks of man kindly, but severely; as one yearning over a lost child, yet as one who will make no terms with sin, and will "by no means clear the guilty." <continued>
